Merlyn Mind recently took home a Trendsetter Award from EdTechDigest’s EdTech Awards 2023. Our AI assistant – purpose-built for education– won top honors for a “product or service setting a trend.”

Celebrating its 13th year, the US-based EdTechAwards is the world's largest recognition program for education technology, recognizing the biggest names in edtech – and those who soon will be.

“Thank you to EdTech Digest for seeing the promise of Merlyn,” says Merlyn Mind Co-founder and CEO Dr. Satya Nitta. “Artificial intelligence is obviously having quite a moment right now. At Merlyn Mind, we believe the real benefits of AI are revealed when solutions are purpose-built for specific industries and their unique workflows and safety needs. That’s exactly what we’re doing for education with Merlyn.”

Merlyn leverages the power of AI to allow teachers and students to interact naturally with the technology in their classrooms. Using voice commands or touch, they can operate their front-of-class display, laptop, and internet applications from anywhere in the room.

With Merlyn, the tech disappears into the background. Merlyn handles the repetitive, mundane tasks so teachers can do what teachers do best – maintain the flow of class, increase engagement, and drive successful learning outcomes.

“I think it’s the best piece of instructional technology we’ve ever been given,” says one North Carolina elementary school teacher who regularly uses Merlyn in the classroom. “It’s rare that you get something in your classroom that’s not just for data collection or to look good. Merlyn is something you can use all day, every day.”

Dr. Nitta agrees.

“If you look at education today,” Dr. Nitta says, “teachers are spending a large portion of their time juggling technology and applications, connecting things to HDMI switches, plugging in their display, and trying to problem-solve. They’re being pulled away from the most important human tasks of teaching students, empathizing with them, giving them motivation. We saw an opportunity to build AI solutions designed just for education that would be instantly helpful to teachers and increase human interaction and student engagement in classrooms. We’re honored to be recognized as a Trendsetter byEdTech Digest, and we will continue to lead the way with AI built for the unique needs of education.”
